Pneumatic Thermal Staker
The PTS (Pneumatic Thermal Staker) is a pneumatically powered vertical motion Heat Staking Welder designed for a wide variety of heat staking applications requiring a high degree of precision and consistency. This welder offers a simple, cost effective solution to quickly assemble parts that require a single or multiple heat stake(s). The machine chassis features an ultra-rigid extruded aluminum column to minimize deflection that can contribute to an inconsistent Thermal Staking process. A microprocessor controller with color touch-screen HMI and a vertical axis Linear Encoder provides enhanced over all process control and more consistent production quality.
Advantages of the Pneumatic Thermal Staker:
- Multiple application uses including heat staking, inserting, embossing, and de- gating.
- Compatible with a wide variety of materials including most thermoplastics and some difficult to weld materials.
- Air Post Cooling feature enhances release of stake head from applications with little to no material build-up.
Standard Features
- Ultra-Rigid Rectangular Column minimizes deflection of the system under even the highest pressures.
- Modular Design allows adaptability to a variety of production configurations. Controller height may be repositioned or removed completely from the press and relocated to a user preferred position.
- 3.5” Color Touch-Screen User Interface enables programming of staking parameters and several quality management features. Allows the following to be displayed:
- Temperature
- Melt Time
- Hold Time
- Total Vertical Stroke
- Resettable Parts Counter
- Total Machine Cycle Counter
- Diagnostic Display
- Ethernet Connectivity
- Precision Linear Stroke Encoder allows the system to monitor & control multiple process steps including contact height, weld travel, & final height. Weld Travel Pass/ Fail Windows allow user to set min/max weld travel alarm limits for quality control purposes.
- Multi-Level Passcode Protection limits parameter adjustment to qualified personnel only.
- 5 Weld Program/Setup Memory allows storage for instant recall, minimizing tool change time.
- 3.14” (80mm) Diameter Press Cylinder delivers 620 lbs of clamping force.
- 7.9” (200mm) Vertical Actuator Stroke permits loading/unloading with adequate clearance for most parts.
- Adjustable Stroke Velocity permits control of the vertical speed of the welding head, allowing more precise control for sensitive applications.
- Ergonomically Located Dual Cycle Activation Switches ensure operator safety from actuator descent.
- Lockable Mechanical Stop prevents shift/migration of stop setting in even the worst vibrating environments.
Optional Features
- Special Energy Star Compliant Operating Voltages Transformer
- 5.7” Color Screen User Interface
- Expanded Input/Output Module
- Welded Tubular Steel Support Frame with Leveling Feet
- Light Screen Safety Protection
- Pneumatic Powered Safety Door
- Leveling Casters
- LED Four Color Light Tower
- Fixture Clamp Valve
- Tooling Sensor(s)
- Data Acquisition Program & 4G Micro-SD Card
- Compressed Air Reserve Tank
- Operator loads part halves into holding fixture
- Operator initiates both cycle activation switches
- When target temperature of thermal tooling is reached, the actuator moves thermal stake tooling toward fixtured part
- Operator is permitted to release cycle activation switches after part to part contact is made
- Thermal stake tooling performs the recipe adjustable (time, temperature, pressure, distance) staking process
- Welded parts are blasted with cold air to “snap cool” the parts
- Actuator retracts to home position
- Operator removes welded part from fixture
